Dr. Vireshwar Kumar is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi. In the past, Vireshwar received his Bachelor of Technology in Electrical Engineering at IIT Delhi. After a short stint as a Research Assistant at Indian Institute of Science under the supervision of Dr. Vinod Sharma, he joined Virginia Tech and obtained his Ph.D. degree in Computer Engineering under the guidance of Dr. Jerry Park. Before returning back to IIT Delhi, he also worked as a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Department of Computer Science at Purdue University under the supervision of Dr. Dongyan Xu. His research interests include anatomizing the communication protocols employed in CPS/IoT (smart city, home, car, drone, and mobile devices) for security and privacy vulnerabilities, and then mitigating them with innovative defense mechanisms.
