Some general guidelines

  1. It should be possible to use the file foav10.tex as the master. Check it out.

  2. Every student submits a directory (or a tgz file which on extraction, creates the directory and the files in it) named FullNameWithoutSpaces which contains all the files including a master file named L??.body, where, FullNameWithoutSpaces is the student's name and ?? is the 2-digit lecture number.

  3. Each student's master file L??.body, will begin with the line

    \chapter{Blah Blah Yakkety Yak}

    where Blah Blah Yakkety Yak is the name of the chapter. In most cases the name of the chapter may be simply whatever I have written as the heading of that lecture in my handwritten notes. But some you may have to be a little more creative.

  4. As for the actual content of your file, let it not simply be a reproduction of my handwritten notes. Here are some of the things you can do.

  5. For your general convenience I have mentioned a large number of LaTeX macros (in the file foav.newcommands). I have found them very useful in my writing.

  6. I am also calling in a large number of latex packages (in the file foav10.tex) to make you aware that somebody out there has actually invented a circular wheel and it is not necessary for you to reinvent it and implement a totally unintended oblong one. Try to use the packages as they are intended to be.

  7. For most new users the large number of packages mentioned in foav10.tex might actually be an inconvenience, unless they have already got all these packages installed at a place where LaTeX can find them. But such is life!

  8. Please do check out the file foav.env so that you realize that you don't have to start numbering every theorem, definition and lemma in your own inimitable style. Most importantly, if you use the environment commands given in the file, you don't have to keep track of any numbering at all! LaTeX will handle it all for you.

  9. I am going to run all your files from the master file foav10.tex. So please make sure you run your file using this master and produce the file foav10.dvi (you may view it using xdvi) through LaTeX or the file foav10.pdf through pdfLaTeX.
