IIT Delhi, CSE,  M.Tech Admissions, Summer 2025

1. Eligibility criteria: We will use the following eligibility criteria related to qualifying degrees and disciplines (this is also mentioned in the information brochure): BTech/BE in any discipline OR BS (4 yrs) in CS/Math from IISc/IISER OR (Bachelor + Master) or Integrated masters (of total duration at least 5 years) in Math/Statistics/Computer Science OR Master of Computer Applications. Applicants must exhibit familiarity with Data Structures, Discrete Mathematics, and Digital Logic/Computer Organization via courses done during their undergraduate/master's education. Please note that we will apply the shortlisting criteria given in (2) and create shortlists assuming that the applicants have checked and satisfy these eligibility requirements. Candidates whom we suspect do not satisfy our eligibility requirements will be contacted separately to verify, and their application process will be terminated if they do not satisfy these requirements.

2. Shortlisting criteria: The approved shortlisting criteria is posted at this link. Note that the department has the liberty to define shortlisting criteria over and above the minimum requirements of the institute. We will thus not entertain any communication in this regard.

3. Admission to the CSE, MTech full-time program will be based on CS GATE score (No interview/test will be conducted. The only exception is IIT BTechs with CGPA>=8.0, who are exempted from qualifying GATE and their selection will be based on an interview)). The shortlisted candidates can be found at the following link: (link). Please note that shortlisting does not imply selection. The selection will be based on CS GATE score.

4. Online interviews for IIT BTechs with CGPA>=8.0 will be held on 2nd May (Fri), from 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM. The following candidates have been shortlisted for an online interview on the 2nd: (link). Interview instructions to shortlisted candidates will be communicated separately through email by 5:00 PM, 30th April.

5. The following candidates have been shortlisted for an in-person interview/test for the 'MTech High-Value Assistantship (HVA)' program: (link). Further information regarding the interview/test will be posted below shortly.

6. The following candidates have been shortlisted for an in-person interview/test for the 'MTech part-time/sponsored' program: (link). Further information regarding the interview/test will be posted below shortly.

7. The following foreign applicants have been shortlisted for an online interview/test: (link). Further information regarding the interview/test will be posted below shortly.

8. If you feel you should have been shortlisted, but your name does not appear, do the following. Double-check the list of application IDs and the shortlisting criteria. If you still feel you should have been shortlisted, email Prof. Ragesh Jaiswal (M.Tech coordinator) at rjaiswal@cse.iitd.ac.in. No phone calls, please.

9. If anybody has been shortlisted in error, their application process will be terminated as and when discovered.

10. Test/Interview instructions (only for shortlisted part-time/sponsored and HVA applicants)

(A). An in-person written test will be conducted on 14th May. You can find some practice material on this page. Interviews will be conducted for candidates who clear the written test from 15-17 May. The final selections will be made on the interview scores. Please make appropriate travel arrangements. Please note that we will NOT be able to arrange hostel accommodation. Further details regarding the schedule and logistics will be made available shortly. Keep checking this webpage.

(B) Those shortlisted are invited to appear for an in-person written test at IIT Delhi on 14th May. The exact location within IIT Delhi will be communicated soon (see below). The reporting time is 11:00 AM, and no entry will be allowed after 11:30 AM. You must carry a government-issued ID with you to take the test. (Note that the test will be held along with PhD and MSR candidates in CSE, IIT Delhi.)

(C) The written test will include two parts: an objective section and an on-paper programming section. Applicants must pass both the objective and the programming sections in order to be considered for interviews. The questions in the objective section will be on basic computer science topics, including: A sample paper is provided below to help you assess your preparedness for the written test. Please note that the exact format of the test may vary. (D) If you pass the written test, you will be asked to appear for an in-person interview between 15th to 17th May. The candidates shortlisted for interview will be announced on 14th May after the exam, along with their interview dates.

(E) The written test will be held on 14th May at the Lecture Hall Complex (LHC) in IIT Delhi. The exact room numbers assigned to shortlisted applicants will be posted here by the 13th. Please make sure to check this webpage before the test to know your room number. The reporting time is 11:00 AM, and no entry will be allowed after 11:30 AM. The exam will be completed by 2:30 PM. Applicants are required to carry the following items with them to take the test: You are permitted to bring a water bottle with you. No electronic devices will be allowed during the test, such as mobile phones, calculators, smartwatches, earphones, etc.
