This first assignment is a preparatory assignment so that people get familiar with Java, which they are encouraged to use in the rest of the assignment.
So it is strongly advised that the assignment be submitted in Java. One need not use any overly intricate details about Java to code the assignment. Simple features (similar to those common to C++) are enough. It turns out, the rich library support in Java would help a great deal in doing string processing, which are required for this assignment.
