Note that the java DES encrypter/decrypter uses 64 bit keys. We know that the key length for DES is just 56 bits. Here is how you convert a 56 bit DES key to a 64 bit key that is used by the java API:
Divide the 56 bits into 8 chunks of 7 bits each.
Each 7 bit chunk forms the most significant bits of an 8 bit block.
The least significant bit of each block is the complement of the parity of the 7 bits in the chunk.
