Avoiding Common Pitfalls


  1. Use EPSILON, do not compare with zero
  2. Do not compare with EPSILON blindly, sometimes > or < 0.0 is a better idea
  3. Setup local coordiante system for each primitive
  4. Do not calculate normal till necesarry
  5. Do not calculate (u,v) parameters till necessary
  6. Translations occur before rotations or vice-versa ... think before you do ...
  7. Setup the camera coordinate system corretcly ... take care about the viewing direction
