Title: Exploring Big Data: Challenges and Opportunities
Speaker: Juliana Freire, NYU
Abstract:
The explosion in the volume of digital data currently available has
created new opportunities in many different domains, from spurring
scientific discoveries to enabling smarter cities that provide a
better quality of life for its citizens. Unfortunately, the
infrastructure to analyze, visualize, and integrate information has
not kept pace with our collective ability to gather data, leading to
an unprecedented situation: data exploration is now the bottleneck to
discovery. In this talk, I will describe some of the efforts we are
conducting at the Visualization and Data Analysis Center at NYU Poly
that aim to address this challenge.
